In regression hypnotherapy, you “travel” back in time to past memories and experiences that can help you overcome present challenges.
There are two types of memories we can access in hypnotherapy:
These can be pivotal events we remember or seemingly insignificant events that we might have forgotten. Either way, they left an imprint that keeps affecting our lives, whether we are aware of it or not.
Emotional, psychological, and even physical issues can – in many cases - be traced back to past experiences, big or small as they may have been.
The symptoms of these imprints can be ever-present in our daily life or they can stay dormant for years and resurface when something else happens that triggers a subconscious remembering of the original event.
Again, this often takes place without us being consciously aware of these connections, which makes it difficult to resolve our issues - no matter how much we try or want to do it.
In hypnotherapy, we allow the subconscious (and the superconscious, which is our Soul self) to take us back to the relevant memories. We then use several therapeutic techniques to release the trauma, beliefs, and negative emotional energies associated with them.
We get to see the experience through a higher – often spiritual - perspective, which is profoundly cathartic and healing.
I practice client-centered therapy, where you as the client choose how to proceed every step of the way and we only go as far as you are ready to go. This creates a very safe space for my clients to re-experience these key events and have meaningful breakthroughs.
It’s also important to understand that it is really your Soul (or Higher Self) that is guiding the session and your Soul always knows what’s best for you. I never tire to see the wisdom of the Soul at work!
Contrary to popular belief, regression hypnotherapy doesn’t always mean revisiting unpleasant or traumatic past events. In fact, sometimes all we need is to access happy memories that can reconnect us to parts of ourselves we have lost along the way.
These can be inner resources, strengths, or positive perspectives we once held. They can be feelings we had forgotten we are capable of having. The richness and intensity of these feelings, as experienced in hypnosis, can be life changing.
For example, I had a client who was sensing her mind, body, and heart were not cooperating with each other. It caused her to feel drained all the time. At some point in the session, I asked her Soul if it was important to go back to when this problem originated, so we could heal it.
The Soul replied it would be more useful for my client to experience a time when she felt whole with mind, body, and heart working in unison. So, I regressed her there (trusting her Soul would know exactly where to take us) and, boy, what a joyful ride it was! Knowing that she has that ability within herself was essential for my client.
