Every session is different but, in my experience, they all have one thing in common: you get what you most need in the moment (and we often don’t know what that is until we discover it).
Quite the opposite! It’s an “altered state of consciousness” where you are able to focus inward while remaining aware of – but not distracted by - what’s going on around you. You gain an awareness and understanding of yourself beyond the “you” the conscious (mental) mind perceives (which is VERY limited).
Have you ever lost track of time while watching TV, surfing the Internet, or doing something that required your complete focus? Well, that’s a form of “hypnosis”!
The question is not whether you can be hypnotized. It is: What is the most effective way to get you into hypnosis? And what level of hypnosis do you need to solve your problem?
This exploration of what works for you is part of the therapeutic process to help you loosen the grip of your conscious mind so you can access the parts of yourself that are outside of your normal awareness; the parts where greater wisdom resides and where you can find the answers and resources you need to make your life better.
That’s why hypnosis is a sacred collaboration between you and the therapist, which starts with finding a therapist you are comfortable with. Let’s talk to see if I’m a good match for you.
No. All hypnosis is actually self-hypnosis; it only happens if you let it. This means you are guiding the process; the therapist just facilitates it. Nobody can coerce or control you.
Hypnotherapy is meant to help you heal, not create more problems! I practice client-centered hypnotherapy, where we only go as far as you are comfortable and ready. If difficult memories and emotions come up, there are many tools to help you process them in a safe way so you can release them (crucial for healing) and even come to see them in a new light.
We can talk in circles about our problems, try to will ourselves to change, and use positive affirmations. But if we don’t understand what’s really causing the issue, how can we know how to solve it?
Hypnotherapy often works where talk therapy might fall short because:
1) it helps us discover the real cause of the problem, which is often outside of our normal field of awareness;
2) it gives us access to the parts of ourselves that are responsible for our behavior, emotions, and beliefs, so we can de-program those that work against us. Both of these things are often beyond the grasp of our mental mind.
There are different types of hypnotherapy (like Transpersonal Hypnotherapy, Regression Hypnotherapy, Parts Therapy) as well as a variety of therapeutic techniques that can be used in a session.
Before the start of the session, we come up with a plan of action based on the issue at hand and your goals. After that, though, my mantra is: your Soul knows best, so we trust that it will guide the session to help you receive what you most need. I never cease to marvel at how sessions come together in the most unpredictable but perfect ways.
“Past Lives” Regression is only one of the modalities we can use. There are many ways in which hypnotherapy can help us get to the root of a problem and you will find that your session will unfold in the way that works best for you. Here are more of my thoughts on Past Lives Regression Hypnotherapy.
Sessions can average about an hour to an hour and a half. It depends on several factors: what kind of session we are having; how quickly you will go into hypnosis; how the journey unfolds; and how much we need to uncover.
The goal is to bring the journey to “completion” and you will know when you have received all you need in the moment. If you have time constraints, however, we’ll work with them. Sometimes that means breaking up the session into two parts. Complex issues might also take more than one session.
Yes! As long as you have a reliable Internet connection and a space where you can be by yourself without disturbances for awhile, you can have your session remotely in the comfort of your home.
Some clients prefer it that way. Some, however, prefer being in the room with the therapist, away from their usual environment. In terms of results, there’s no difference. It’s all about creating the right energetic space for the session, and I can help you do that either way.
